Three ways to fight

2P

Two players

As in 2015: both on the same keyboard, or a gamepad each. Each player picks a robot.

CPU

Against the CPU

A bot that knows every jump of the stage because it tried them with the game's own engine: it chases you, dodges, shoots and uses its special. Easy, normal or hard.

NET

Online

Create a room, share the code or the link, pick your robots and fight from two houses. Rematch with one button. It works on phones too.

Six robots

The two from 2015 and four new ones, made from the same hand-drawn bodies: new colour, new numbers, new special.

The three stages

The same ones as in 2015, with the same numbers: taken from the original SWF piece by piece.

How to play

  • You win by collecting your 3 orbs (they're on your rival's side), by destroying the other robot, or by being ahead when the 2:30 run out.
  • Every hit pushes, and pushes harder the less life you have: into the spikes or off the stage. You jump twice, shoot in the air, and every robot has its special.
  • Spikes hurt, falling off the bottom kills, and leaving by one side puts you on the other.

The game in 2017

The recording Steven Aragón Urrea uploaded on June 13, 2017, when he published it on his blog.

Story

KR wasn't born in 2026: it is a 2015 game coming back.

  1. 2015 · The beginnings

One of Steve Aragón's first video games. Inspired by Brawlhalla and Super Smash Bros, he builds it in ActionScript 3 with Flash Builder and Flash: he draws the robots by hand, animates them with bones and writes his own engine, with screens, XML asset loading, a command console and a camera that zooms in when the robots fight up close.

  2. 2017 · Released

On June 13, 2017 it comes out for Windows as an .exe, with a blog post and a gameplay video. In July it goes into a repository with its sources, its .fla files and its sounds.

  3. 2019 · Tic-tac-toe online

An online tic-tac-toe arrives, with a socket server also written in AS3. It stays hidden behind the console: F8 and type triqui.

  4. 2026 · The remake

Flash no longer runs in any browser. KR comes back in three.js: a small Flash player reads the original SWF and draws its robots and stages. And it goes further: four new robots built from the 2015 bodies, specials, knockback, a camera that keeps everyone in frame, a bot, online play and a new interface.
